The Korean Taekwondo Association in America was founded as part of the Korean Sports Council to spread the spirit of taekwondo within the United States by promoting the mental and physical development of young Korean-American adults through the traditional doctrines of Taekwondo. Thorough these efforts, KTA in USA further seeks to promote solidarity and cultivate good sportsmanship and leadership within the Korean community in the United States.

본 협회는 재미 대한 체육회 정관의 뜻을 구현하고 대한 태권도 협회와 국기원의 정신을 바탕으로 미국 동포 사회의 외국인및 한인들에게 태권도 정신을 보급하고 결속과 상호 유대를 더욱 공고히 함은 물론 태권도 정신을 통해 신체 발전과 정신수양을 함으로써 우수선수,우수 지도자를 발굴 양성을 통해 태권도의 끊임없는 발전과 태권도 인의 지위 향상과 태권도를 전 세계에 보급 하는데 목적을 둔다.
